David John Moore, 64, of Fairview Park, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his mother Esther (Rennick) Moore, father Robert Moore, and brother James Moore. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Mary Kay Moore, daughter Natalie Dubiel (Taylor), and son John Moore.
He was born in Akron, but was raised in Strongsville, Ohio. He loved being near the Cleveland Metro Parks, where he would ride his bike, with his fishing pole bungeed to the frame, to go fishing. He graduated from Strongsville High School, where he was on the wrestling and football teams. At 14 he took a 10-week canoe trip across the Northwest Territories of Canada. During his high school years, he took up flying glider planes, sailing, and taught himself how to play the guitar and harmonica.
He went on to attend Hocking College, where he got a degree in Forestry. It was at college that he picked up his second favorite sport Downhill Skiing. He also took up parachuting during this time. Upon graduation he began working on the forestry crew of the Cleveland Metro Parks. He retired from the Metro Parks after 33 years of service.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He took his family on many grand adventures, camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and skiing, from coast to coast. His awe for nature and the outdoors was contagious. Even at home he loved being outdoors, tending to the yard, planting his garden, wood working, and working on one of his many projects. He loved his retirement, in the summer he was fishing Lake Eire, in winter he was skiing, and to fill the gap in between he took up golf.
He was a quiet man, but those of us who were lucky enough to know him will surely miss his: love; kindness; generosity; compassion; intelligence; humor; sense of adventure; can-do-attitude; and willingness to help those in need. David was our rock, salt of the earth, and irreplaceable.
If you wish to honor his memory: plant a tree; do a random act of kindness; teach someone a skill (Dave loved to teach people how to fish & ski); take an adventure; or visit his Mosaic page through the American Cancer Society at: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/David_John_Moore
