She was born in Zichydorf, Yugoslavia, the daughter of the late Mathias and Katherine (Krippenz) Herf. Elisabeth was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Josef, who predeceased her on February 6, 2015; loving mother of Josefine (Stacey) Duennes, John (Sally) Schwarz and the late Edward Schwarz; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew, Amanda and Jack.
Oma loved her family above all else. She was the matriarch and caregiver. She did everything amazingly well, be it preparing meals, making clothes, gardening, stretching a dollar, spoiling grandkids, loving her family, and so much more. Living through WWII and the post-war tribulations she encountered made her tough and strong, some might even say a touch stubborn. But she knew what was right and made sure we all knew it. From the time she met and married her Joschi in 1950, they loved each other for over 60+ years and raised their children and grandchildren in a loving home. While she will be sorely missed by all who knew her, every memory will be filled with joy.
All services private. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
