

JAMES L. BLOOR. Born in Lorain Ohio, Bloor was a 1973 Graduate of Lorain Catholic High School and attended Ohio University. As a young man he was a mental health worker at local hospitals before moving to Los Angeles. While there, Bloor's play "Maneuvers" won the Jane Chambers International Gay Playwriting Award and was produced by the Carpet Co. Theatre there. Bloor continued writing part time for the rest of his life and was a columnist for Frontier's Newsmagazine, penning one of the first-ever columns dealing with the HIV epidemic and encouraging safe sex practices. He also contributed feature content to Men's Prime Health and Fitness Magazine as well as several other publications. He was interviewed for and appeared in Louise Hogarth's 2003 documentary, "The Gift", a film that chronicled the HIV epidemic and encouraged safe sex. In a separate career he worked for the Housing Authority, City of Los Angeles as a manager of senior and disabled housing services; retiring in 1998. Bloor lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for 10 years, managing his income properties and moved back to Cleveland permanently in 2008 to manage properties here. He enjoyed his Kamm's Corner's neighborhood very much, flower and vegetable gardening, flea markets and his pets. He was the son of the late Robert and Rita Bloor Sr.
James is survived by his brothers Robert (Cathy) Bloor of Amherst, O., Brian (Lori) Bloor of Westerville, O., and sister Katy Bloor of Fairview Park ,O. and the late Janet Bloor. He will be missed by his nephews Colin and Sean Bloor, Matt Carson and niece Molly Bloor. Celebration of life services will be held Friday March 20 at 7:30 PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Ave, Fairview Park, where the family will receive friends from 3:PM until time of service at 7:30 PM. www.corrigancraciun.com
