I just was told about Mark's passing.
We were Marines together. He was really beloved and a true brother!

Just out of the blue I thought I’d google my old friend Mark Borsody. Obviously, I was taken aback with the news of Marks passing. Too young. We served together in 3/8 and we were roommates on Topsail Island in NC. Mark was one of those Marines who would never have a bad day. We spoke a few years ago and he was the same person as in the late 80s and early 90s. Fair winds and following seas. Semper Fidelis Col Neal “Pug” Pugliese USMC ret. 

I still cannot believe that Mark is gone.  I loved being around him, he always made me laugh.  Joe, you know The Three Cowboys will live on in our hearts.  Mark was a special guy.  God has him now, he is ok, buddy.  Love to your family.

I did not know Mark personally but I am so very saddened and shocked to see his photo on this website as I was seeking another friend.  I feel compelled to let you know that although I never formally was introduced, he made a lasting impression on me as a great man of faith and joy.  As both a parishioner of St. Angeles and a member of the Fairview Rec, Mark’s distinctive smile and happy go lucky attitude was always infectious.   Many times I would just pass him at the Rec and he always smiled and said hello.   I did not even know him by name but I knew him by his ushering over at St. Angela’s.  My husband  is so saddened to just now hear of his passing as he said he  always enjoyed talking to him at Cub Scouts when our son Christian was much younger.  I will miss seeing Mark who put so much positive energy out for others.....Something so desperately needed more of in this world.  Your family will be in our nightly prayers with our children.  May God Bless Mark and all of your family.

Mark was such a special man with a giant heart and love of life. Both of us served  in the military at the same time and it made it difficult to stay in touch through the years, but Mark made a point to contact me miles and states apart. He could re-start a conversation after months or even longer like we never missed a week of catching up, always talking about his  kids, and laughing about old times back  in the Ville. We all know he had a great laugh!!  He really valued his friendships and he certainly loved the Black and Gold!  When he moved out west in the early 90’s , he and I would hang out together with his brother Joe in LosAngeles, and then later on when he was selling coal in Salt Lake. We went to a couple Utah Jazz games and would go to Temple Square and reminisce about Brownsville and the mighty Falcons.. Mark loved his home town and all the friends and  family back in Western PA. When Bones called and told me about his death, it took quite some time to fully process this tragedy.  Mark was a patriot, loved his wife and kids so very much,  and he always made a special effort to call or send a card to his friends. He was a true friend.  You will be missed Lieutenant Borse. My deepest condolences to the family of my dear friend. I have been in shock all day, having just heard that Mark is gone. He was one of my closest friends in our business and I will miss him and his laugh more than I can begin to imagine. Although we have never met, I feel as if I know you all because of all the hours he and I spent discussing our families.  Our discussions were always full of laughter, as any discussion with him always was, but they were also full of pride. I have never known a prouder man - proud of his family, his faith, his service to our country, and our industry, in that order. I was proud to be his friend, and will miss him greatly. That being said, my life was fuller for having known him. God rest his soul, and please accept the condolences and prayers of my family for yours.

I am very saddened by Marks passing.  I have known Mark for over 25 years.  I worked with Mark in sales for over 20 years, and loved his dedication to his Faith, family, and Marine Corps.  He always had a positive attitude and good to say about everyone no matter the circumstances.  The most difficult situations always brought the best out of Mark, and made everyone around him more positive, we enjoyed many laughs together over the years.  After my retirement in 2012, Mark never forgot to call during the year, especially on the Marine Corps. Birthday and always called just before Christmas.  I will pray for his beloved wife Monica (Sweetness) and the boys, of whom he was so proud, I will never forget  you Mark or our friendship.  SEMPER FI Marine !! God Bless !

Two words come to mind when I think of Mark - smiles and miles.    Mark made you feel that you had made his day when he'd greet you with that big, infectious smile, soon followed by "Hey man, how are you doing?"  I would often see Mark on one of his extended walks outside or at the Rec Center - at a pace matched (and likely fueled) by the energy in his smile.
I came to know Mark, Monica, Luke and Eric  through the boys' participation in Cub and Boy Scouts.  When his schedule allowed, Mark was  first in line among the fathers to offer to drive Scouts and  equipment to  camp outs,  assist with Scouting events, etc.
My family was especially touched by the entire Borsody family's support of the annual charity walk/run event held each year to support the Intermediate Care Facility where our daughter Kelly  lives.  There were several years that Luke and Eric were among the top finishers! 
Sherry and I send our thoughts and prayers to Monica, Luke and Eric. 

I had the privilege of serving with Mark in the Marine Corps.  Not only did I serve, but we went through two summers of Officer Candidate School together, our Basic Marine officer training, and then we were in the same Battalion once we finished training.    The chances of serving in all those units together is astronomical.

I remember the first time I met Mark.  He came up to me and said, "are you The Man?  I'm going to call you The Man."  And, he did...up until the last time I spoke to him just before Christmas.  He'd call and always say, "is this The Man?"

Mark was a throwback.  He reminds me of some of my older relatives that served in WW2 and then went to work in the mills.  I think it is fitting that Mark made his living selling to steel mills.  He was a highly authentic person.  You always knew where he stood.  He did not judge anyone, and was always willing to sit down and hear someone out.  He was a true friend.  His Marines really liked him.



I have known Mark now for about 10 years and we became close friends.  When we met we discovered that both of us had served as officers and gentleman in the military but that's where the similarity ends.  Mark was and always will be a Marine and I was in the Army so we always had a $1 bet on the Army Navy football game. Mark almost always won.  Mark was a Steelers fan, I'm a Browns backer.  Mark won all of those games.  Mark was and will continue to be a Democrat and I am a Republican.  This made for some very spirited debates 2 or 3 times a week.  I think we came out even on those.  Our morning fishing ventures on Lake Erie were certainly agreeable or so you would think, right?  Well as soon as I would drop anchor, cut the engine and turn on the radio Mark would complain about my country music and change it to classic rock.  He usually caught the most fish. 
Yep you're a winner Mark and as I write this I can hear your unmistakable laugh, really my ears are ringing.  Miss you, buddy and hope to see you on the other side some day.

Farewell, young brother.  May the Heavenly Father and His blessed Son welcome you with open arms.  Our earthly loss is the chapter eternal's gain.  Viva la Tau and Semper Fi.

 Our parish of Saint Angela Merici  is deeply saddened to hear of MARK‘s passing.  We will be praying for him and the family this weekend and for many days to come. And through our grief,   we will rely on the Power of the resurrection and the overwhelming love of God.

Mark's brother ,Joe, is a fraternity brother of mine (Sigma Tau Gamma) at Penn State. Mark came up to visit Joe a couple of times and we sat at the bar in the basement of 329 East Beaver Ave,  and he was telling stories of growing up in Brownsville. We laughed all night. He was a very funny guy and a fellow Marine. " If the Army and the Navy ever look on heavens scenes, they will find the streets are guarded  by United States Marines".

My sons were in scouts the same time as Luke and Eric, so we spent time together on campouts.  The boys would be in their activities, shooting rockets at Beaumont, working on merit badges, hiking about and sometimes the dads would have a little time to catch up and tell some stories of our life or youth.  I always fully enjoyed being with Mark and hearing his views,  enjoying his hearty laugh and enthusiasm. His eyes would shine and he'd bend back laughing.  He was always himself without any airs.  When you were with him you were with a real person.   One thing in particular I liked...he  always had such a great outlook, there was always something  good coming  just around the corner.  He exuded optimism and cheer.  When he was upset about something, you knew it.   I like that.  I liked being with him.  And he loved his family, it practically spilled out of him, his pride in them all.  I felt like his boys were mine after I'd be talking with him.  One joy was seeing him ushering at mass, as we'd come out of the pew he'd say "Hey man, how are you doing!" and give me that smile and his eyes said he really hoped the best for you.   I am going to miss him!!!  May you rest in peace Mark!

Monica, Luke and Eric, on a personal note, I am so sorry for your loss.  My heart is aching too.  Mark was so kind to my daughter Monica.  He took her under his wing when she began to usher.  You know how much he cared for her.  Your family is in our prayers.  Luke and Eric, you guys always warm my heart, your dad gave you life and so much encouragement (and motivation, I'd wager).  I am sure he will remain proud of you forever. Peace to your family.

Our sons were in cub scouts and boy scouts together, became eagle scouts together, and, as a result, Mark and I spent a lot of time together camping and attending scouting events. Mark and I shared a lot of fun times together, including staying in cabins together at scout camps! The key was to try go to sleep before Mark did because once he started snoring, sleep would be impossible! I will miss him very much! I am blessed to know the Borsody family and wish to extend my families' deepest condolences.
