My Dad was a dreamer, a warrior and Idealist and a romantic.  There is so much I wanted to post here, but apparently it is all copyrighted.  So I will have to settle for something a tad less poetic or lyrical:

Sail on Captain.  Sail to thine lady fair.
Find thee gentle waters and favorable winds.
You held a steady course in life.
May you find safe harbor on Heaven's shores.
Rest from your journeys, and spend some well-deserved leave with Mom.

I will miss grandpa's brilliance and his humor the most. We really understood each others jokes even if others did not. He always had a smile tried his best to put one on everyone else.

I want to thank the DeLatt family for all they did for me when my 1st wife passed away 30 years ago.  I have and will continue to miss Pete at Church and the Holy Name meetings.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved father.  I know he has joined your mother in God's arms.  I am sorry I cannot make it to the viewing due to my recent surgery.  I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Uncle Bud will always live in our hearts and prayers.  Cherish the memories!

Pete DeLaat served as my facilities manager during the 9 years (1980-89) I was director of the Jesuit Retreat House in Parma.

Pete was one of the most competent and delightful persons I have ever known. He applied marine engineering and Coast Guard "can do" to a difficult situation. He was always "semper peratus" for any emergency ... and they were frequent in an old building with a tight budget.

Pete was a most generous and delightful gentlemen. I considered him my friend and will miss him.

My sincere condolences to his family.

I served under Ensign Peter Delaat  in 1953 out of Portland Maine on a USCG Cutter    latter I served with him at St Brendan   small world   Great Guy   George Wasmer

My thoughts and Prayers go out to the family. Peter was a wonderful man. I had visited him recently with his daughter Sue Hoag. We sat with him and put puzzles together. That was a good day. He will be greatly missed.

To all of Peter and Marianna's family, please accept my deep sympathy. I trust that your deep faith will carry you pass this rough spot. You family has been very much in my thoughts and mydaily prayers since your mother left you. My prayers always ended with, "When Pete dies I pray that he'll go to heaven to join Marianna for the rest of eternity."  
All of his Coast Guard Academy classmates will be notified this Easter weekend.
