Alice M. Dion

Alice M. Dion, 85, passed away on January 3, 2026 at Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford, after a long illness. Born and raised in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Florence (Crawford) Dion of New Boston Road. She graduated from Fitchburg State College (BS Education 1962) and University of New Hampshire (MA Education in Developmental Disabilities 1978). She also held certificates in English Teaching, Special Education, and K-12 Learning Disabilities. Alice dedicated her professional life as a teacher and school director at various high schools within New England and worked abroad in Venezuela, Philippines, Chile, Syria, Germany, Brazil, Kuwait, and Tunisia.

Alice, often referred to as “Sis” by her immediate family and friends was well known for her independent take on life, high regard for learning, and her passion for adventurous travel including all her colorful stories from around the world. Alice was very fond of her cat companions, beaches and the warm summer months.

She leaves behind three daughters, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Sayra P. Flynn, and her brother, J. Peter Dion.
