

Born in Fall River, son of the late Chester C. Wolstenholme, Sr. and Viola (Moss) Wolstenholme, he was a lifelong resident of the city. A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, he attended Colburn Classical Institute and Bradford Durfee Textile Institute now UMASS Dartmouth. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy , serving aboard the USS Eldridge and the USS Merganser.
He worked at US Rubber and Pratt Whitney, was a Fall River Park Police Officer and worked at the Post Office before becoming a Digital Systems Computer Operator at Newport Naval Base where he was employed for over 20 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 314 in Fall River, VFW, Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and was a founding member of the U.S. Navy and the World War II Memorial Foundations. He loved boats and he enjoyed traveling and playing the piano. He was especially fond of Lawrence Welk and the music of the Big Band Era.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas H. Wolstenholme and his wife Justine of Monument Beach, MA, Peter F. Wolstenholme of Fall River and James C. Wolstenholme and his wife Charlene of Fall River and Tiverton, RI, seven grandchildren; Jonathan, Justin, Kathryn, Ashley, Peter II, James, Andrew, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Wolstenholme and Ruth Gray.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter Street Fall River. Visiting hours Tuesday from 6-8PM.
