

Dr. Gilbert Vincent of Quincy, Ma, formerly from Fall River, Somerset, Westport and Punta Gorda Florida died peacefully after a sudden illness on 12/21/11 at the age of 85. He was the son of the late John Vincent and Gloria (Costa) Vincent. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years Alice J (Pacheco) Vincent, and two daughters, Jane Horowiec of Easton, Ma. and Andrea Ferreira of Boston, Ma., along with a son, Mark Vincent of Leesburg, Va. He is survived by his brothers: Capt. Manuel daC Vincent (USN retired) of Sarasota, Fla. and Theophilo Vincent of Peterborough, New Hampshire. He will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Mark, Brian, Dawn, and Matthew along with several nieces and nephews and many dear and close friends.
Dr. Vincent was born and raised in Fall River. He graduated from BMC Durfee High school in 1945 and then went on to serve in the US Army as a radio operator. After his honorable discharge, he went to Providence College where he graduated in 1951 with a BS in biology. He then continued on to the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry where he graduated in 1954. Dr. Vincent practiced dentistry in Fall River for 32 years where he was loved and respected. He was President of the Exchange Club of Fall River in 1957 and President of the Fall River Chamber of Commerce from 1982-1983. He was also awarded the Frank B. Oliveira Outstanding Citizen Award in 1991 and was given the Massachusetts Dental Society certificate of recognition in May of 2004 for fifty years of distinguished service to the dental profession.
His memorial service will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 12 Noon in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. Fall River followed by entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum in Fall River.
