While we will miss him more than words can express, we choose to celebrate a life that was full, meaningful, and beautifully lived.
Mike was the son of the late John C. Carey and Corinne H. (O’Neil) Carey of Fall River. He was a graduate of Durfee High School’s class of 1969 and Oklahoma Farriers' College class of 1974. Mike was a retired control room operator, most recently employed by Dartmouth Power.
Mike loved many things — horses, the beach, and his collection of antique tractors — but nothing came close to the love he had for his children and his two grandchildren. His grandkids were his greatest pride and his favorite reason to smile. He never missed a chance to tell them he loved them, offer a helping hand, bring them munchkins, or simply sit beside them and enjoy the moment.
Mike was the kind of man who didn’t need to speak loudly to be heard. His kindness, reliability, and gentle humor spoke for him. He showed his love through his actions — by being present, by helping, and by always making sure the people he loved were taken care of.
Mike is now joyfully reunited with those who went before him — his daughter Megan K. (Carey) Leary, sister Patricia A. Carey, brother William T. Carey, parents John and Corinne Carey, and stepmother Anna M. Carey. We know they have welcomed him with open arms.
Mike is lovingly survived by his son Ryan P. Carey and his wife Michelle; his beloved grandsons William and Cooper, of Lakeville; his three brothers, John C. “Jack” Carey and his wife Sharon of Fall River, James J. “Jim” Carey and his wife Kathleen of Fall River, Paul T. Carey and his wife Catherine of Swansea; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
