

Helen T. (Lord) Janick, age 88, died after a short illness November 28, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Shawnee, Kansas surrounded by loving family. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Janick, Sr. for 53 years until his death in 1999.
Born July 27, 1922 in Fall River, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Kelley) Lord, she was a 1939 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and held administrative positions at several Fall River businesses until her retirement in 1987 from the Fall River Gas Company. A long time resident of Fall River, Helen moved to Shawnee, Kansas in 2002 to live with her daughter’s family.
A loving wife and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and sharing stories. Blessed with a remarkable memory, Helen would astound her children and grandchildren with her precise recollections of times long forgotten by younger family members.
A long time communicant of St. William’s parish, she continued her work as a Eucharistic minister with Holy Trinity Church. For many years, she also volunteered as Sunday School teacher and lector. In recognition of her contributions, the Diocese of Fall River awarded Helen the Marian Medal. Helen was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Shawnee, KS.
Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Walter “Jack” and Gloriette Janick, N. Attleboro,; Thomas and Denise Janick, Lakeville; Michael and Deborah Janick, Tiverton; two daughters and their spouses, Maureen and Stephen Anness, Shawnee, KS and Nancy and Darryl Monteiro, Fall River; two sisters, Anne Arnold, East Marion, NY and Elizabeth Green, Dunedin, FL; 11 grandchildren (Lynn Zukley, Courtney Stanton, Michael, Kate and Matthew Anness, Alyssa, Bryan and Elizabeth Janick, David, Kimberly and Samuel Monteiro); and 2 great-grandchildren (Helen Rose Zukley and James Thomas Stanton). She was a sister of the late Francis J. Lord, Mary Kilby, Margaret Macomber, Vincent G. Lord, Joseph Lord and Veronica Lord.
Helen’s family wants to thank her amazing caregiver, JoJo Vargas, whose tireless assistance was a priceless gift.
Her Funeral will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 9A.M. from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place followed by a funeral mass at 10A.M. in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd, Fall River, MA. Visiting Hours Friday 4 to 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kendallwood Hospice, 2908 NW Vivion Rd, Riverside, MO 64150, who helped with Helen’s loving care during her final illness.
