

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Cornelius A. and Jane E. (Cafferty) Brady, she was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1946.
Jean worked as the last supervisor of the proof-reading department at the Fall River Herald News for 17 years. She then went on to work for the Hanover Medical Lab for 14 years. For 30 years, Jean was employed by Lab Corp., retiring in 2020 at the age of 91.
An avid tap dancer, Jean performed in the U.S.O. show during WWII. She was a passionate New England sports fan, especially the Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. In her youth, she was a communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Church and was a member of the John J. Doran Drums and Bugle Corps. as well as the Holy Name Woman’s Guild. Incredibly proud of her roots, Jean belonged to the Irish Heritage Association.
She is survived by two children, Michael J. Power and Kathleen A. Madaras, both of Fall River; two grandsons, Michael D. Power, II and Samuel P. McVean; four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Theo, and Aoife Power and Jameson Silva, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Timothy P. Power, grandmother of the late Rian Gardullo, sister of the late John, Cornelius, and Charles Brady, sister-in-law of the late Freda and Rita Brady, and mother-in-law of the late Carol Power.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
