Joyce Ready

Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Frank F. and Helen (Raczkowski) Weglowski and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Joyce worked for nearly 40 years as a Fourth Grade Teacher at the James Tansey Elementary School in Fall River. She graduated from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor’s degree in education.

She loved the beach, a day at Elephant Rock or Baker’s Beach was one of her favorite ways to spend a summer day. She also enjoyed shopping trips with her sisters and nieces, traveling near and far for the perfect piece of clothing or jewelry. But above all else, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Kristina Ready and her husband Eleftherios Pittas of Garden City, NY and David T. Ready of Brooklyn, NY; her sisters: twin sister Paula Macy and her husband Joseph of Fall River, Joan Weglowski of Fall River and Fran Weglowski of Long Meadow, MA; four grandchildren: Alex, Olivia, Rose and Dylan; along with nieces Lynne Chisholm and Stephanie Macy and nephews Greg Flanagan and Peter Macy.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
