

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Joseph and Shirley (Smith) Arruda, he was a lifelong residence of the area.
Mike was an automotive mechanic for over forty years, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire South Coast Oncology team, especially Dr. Mark Shparber and Dr. Edress Othman, and to the Southcoast VNA Hospice team, for the comforting care they provided to Michael in his time of need.
In addition to his wife Paula, he is survived by five children, Kalhan E. Arruda and her wife Amy of Raynham, Michael A. Arruda of Fall River, Audra M. Gifford and her husband Ryan of Somerset, Wayne E. Furtado, Jr. and Jason F. Furtado; four grandchildren, Jules and Reese Arruda and Elliott and Jonah Michael Gifford; one sister, Deborah Adam and her husband Pete of Swansea; three brothers, Joseph “Butch” Arruda of Swansea, David Arruda of New Bedford and Jay Arruda and his wife Trish of Swansea and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited.
