Richard Botelho

Born in Fall River the son of the late Louis and Lorraine (Gendreau) Botelho, he was a longtime resident of the city.

A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1971, he was the Team Manager for the BMC Durfee Hilltoppers Basketball team. A Maintenance Manager for the Fall River Housing Authority, he worked for 30 years before his retirement.

A New England sports team enthusiast, he especially enjoyed attending the Boston Red Sox opening day at Fenway and spring training in Fort Myers. With a good memory for numbers, he liked to play card games, in particular Pinnacle.

He is survived by seven siblings, Jeanne Langlois of Portsmouth, RI, Robert G. “Bob” Botelho of Seekonk, Beverly Souza and her husband Jose of Tiverton, Robbin Sercu and her husband Steve of Agoura Hills, CA, Cindy Vanasse of Fall River, Lori Fielding and her wife Christen Lambiase of Middletown, and Jocelyn Walton and her fiancé Wayne Sickles of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the father of the late Kayla Botelho and brother of the late Gayle A. Botelho.

His visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 8:30 -10:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1120 Framingham, MA 01701. Burial will be private.
