Robert E. Ryan

Robert E. Ryan, age 91, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River after a brief illness. He was the husband of Jenny (Bradley) Ryan to whom he had been married for 64 years.

Born in Fall River, the son of the late James T. and Lotta R. (Leach) Ryan, he was a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School class of 1942 and a lifelong resident of the city. He served in the United States Navy as a Yeoman on a submarine during World War II.

Mr. Ryan was the owner and operator of Bob Ryan Painting & Decorating for 15 years until his retirement in 1991, prior to that he worked as a Painter for local painting companies for over 30 years. He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church now Church of the Holy Spirit in Fall River.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by his four children: Jenny L. Ryan of Framingham, MA, Sheryl A. Ryan of Gilford, CT, Millie S. McGarr and her husband Paul of Westport, MA and Robert E. Ryan and his wife Lisa of Westminster, MA; five grandchildren: Sean McGarr and his partner Robby Moylan, Elizabeth Ryan, Victoria Ryan, Carolyn McClaskey and her partner Ted Brown, and Ian McClaskey and his partner McKenzie Chapman and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his four brothers, James, Milton, Gordon and Richard Ryan and a sister Mildred Ryan Smith.

His Requiem Eucharist will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11AM in the Church of the Holy Spirit 160 Rock St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Catholic Memorial Home 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial will be private.
