

Russell Broadbent, age 93, of Tiverton passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the forever loving husband and best friend of Elizabeth “Betty” (Connelly) Broadbent for the past 68 plus years.
Russell was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1932, to Alfred and Hannah (Taylor) Broadbent and was raised in Fall River. He was a graduate of B. M. C. Durfee High School, Class of 1951, and never missed a reunion.
Two weeks after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served with pride during the Korean Conflict for four years and enjoyed many gatherings with his shipmates in the years to follow.
He was a High-Pressure Boiler Operator at Montaup Electric in Somerset where he was employed for 38 years.
Russ and Betty enjoyed their retirement years together, cruising annually on various ships to various destinations and traveling occasionally to Florida. He was an avid walker, at least a mile a day for over 60 years, rain or shine and enjoyed most sports, especially playing basketball and hockey in his younger days. He was also a great dancer.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves his daughters, Nancy B. Copeland and her husband Edward P. “Ted” Connor of Fall River and Kathleen E. Smith and her husband Raymond “Ray” of South Dartmouth, two grandchildren, Kara E. Smith (Bruce) and Raymond J. Smith, II, two great grandsons, Sean and Aiden Smith and many cousins. He was the grandfather of the late William Joseph Copeland, II.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 10:00 to 11:00AM. Burial in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.
