

William S. Easman, Jr.,”Bill”,73, of Little Compton, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at The Rhode Island Hospital, after a short illness. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Biebel) Easman to whom he was married for 44 years.
Bill was born in Newburgh, NY, son of the late William S. Easman and Anita (Layne) Ellis. He attended the Fessenden School, the Kent School and The Wharton School of Business. He and Nancy lived in Greenwich CT for many years before moving to Little Compton in 1993. He spent his 40 year career in the investment business working first as a broker (First Boston Corporation and Faulkner, Dawkins & Sullivan), then as a publisher/investment corporate consultant (Duff and Phelps, Easman Inflation Consultants and Callard Madden & Associates) and finally as an investment manager (Shearson, Lehman, Hutton and Fleet Investment Advisors). He was published and recognized by Financial Analysts Journal for his article (“One of our Best”) which showed strong correlation between the pattern , and level of, stock prices with inflation adjusted earnings. His passion was to make complicated subjects sound simple. He said, “Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.”
He was a member of the St Anthony Club, the Greenwich Field Club, and the Sakonnet Point Club. He served as a director of the Sakonnet Golf Club, was a long time Director of the Committee for Monetary Research and Education and a Past President of the Friends of the Little Compton Nursing Association. He had been a director of the Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust and was an active member of The United Congregational Church of Little Compton.
In addition to Nancy, he is survived by brother Fred S. Easman of Scottsdale, AZ, brother Richard W. Tompkins and wife, Amy of Amelia Island, FL, brother Kenneth C. Tomkins and wife Jan of The Villages, FL, sister-in-law Jane Holland of Palo Alto, CA, seven nieces, four nephews and beloved pets, Minnie and Maxine.
A service of Thanksgiving will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the United Congregational; Church, The Commons, Little Compton. Contributions may be made to the Potter Animal League, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI. Arrangements in care of the Waring Sullivan-Homes of Memorial Tribute, Fall River.
