
William P. McGrath, “Bing”, age 68, of Fall River passed away peacefully on October 2, 2013 after a long struggle with multiple health issues. He was the son of the late William and Catherine (Jackovitch) McGrath and former husband of Barbara McGrath.
Throughout his life, he worked in various fields and was most proud of his career with the Swansea Police Department and happiest when working with children as an officer in the Swansea school system.
For over twenty years, he was a member of the Colonial Navy of Massachusetts and was their drum major as they marched here in the United States as well as Ireland and Portugal.
A talented thespian, he performed in many different roles with theater groups throughout Southeastern MA and RI
He leaves two daughters: Shaye L. Brisson and her husband Luke of Tiverton, their children Lilly and Wyatt, Devon C. McGrath and her fiance’ Jonathan Hodgekins of New Bedford, two sisters: Barbara Morrissey and her husband Daniel of Chevy Chase, MD, Patricia Thomas and her husband William of Sherborn, MA, one brother: Msgr. Jeremiah J. McGrath of Beaumont, TX, and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Bing enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his dear friend Betsey Warren and lifelong best friend Alan Robillard.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 5-8 PM pm in the Waring- Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St. Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. To honor his love of children, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
