William F. Niewola, Jr., “Butch,” age 84, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Janice C. (Kuriothowski) Niewola to whom he has been married for the past 60 years.
Born in South Bend, Indiana, a son of the late William F. Niewola, Sr. and Marjorie (Ward) Niewola, he was a longtime resident of the city.
A graduate of Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School, he later earned his associate’s degree in business from Bristol Community College. He was especially proud of his service to his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Lance Corporal from 1960 to 1964.
He spent many years working as a skilled machinist and supervisor, a trade he took great pride in. He began his career at Morse Cutting Tools in New Bedford, where he worked until the company closed. He later continued his career at the former Lightolier, eventually serving as a supervisor until his retirement in the late 1990s. Through hard work and dedication, he built a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
A true patriot who deeply loved his country, he was a longtime member of the LCPL John J. Van Gyzen Detachment 1285 in Somerset. Beyond his work and service, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, bowling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His greatest happiness came from being with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished deeply. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and the love he shared with those around him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, William Niewola, III, Kerry Camara, Mark Niewola and Wendy Niewola all of Fall River; one sister, Julia Charette and her husband Roger of Steward FL; three brothers, John Niewola and his wife Donna of Swansea, Raymond and Michael Niewola both of Fall River; three grandchildren Matthew Mulcahy, Sophia Camara and Jacob Niewola and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margaret “Peggy” Shepherd, Edward Niewola, Joseph “Mikey” Cahill and John Cahill.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 12:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will take prior to his service from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Contributions in is honor may be made to LCPL John J. Vangyzen Marine Corps League, Detachment 1285, 265 High St., Somerset, MA 02726. Burial private.
