On Friday January 10, 2020, Adolfo Antonio Fuentes, 83 years old of Woodbridge VA., passed away at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Adolfo was born on December 6, 1936 in El Salvador. Known to his close friends and soccer aficionados as Fito “Gato” Fuentes. He was part of the founding group that formed the Club Deportivo Águila, that elevated El Salvador into a Premier Soccer League, and started the country’s legacy of 16 Championships with their first integral win of 1959. Several years later, he migrated to the United States where he established a new chapter in his life in Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area. Adolfo’s first love was soccer; however, his passion for dancing was a close second. He was known for his knowledge of history, the life of the party, funny faces, and his infectious smile. Adolfo is survived by his wife Blanca, and three daughters Blanca “Cely/Sally” of Woodbridge VA, Evelyn and her husband Edwin Laviena of Chambersburg, PA and Karla and her husband Chris Lee of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Victoria, Donald and Virginia, along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Adolfo Fuentes will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Murphy Funeral Homes on 1102 West Broad St. Falls Church, VA 22046. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park Cemetery on 8420 Little River Turn Pike Annandale, VA. 22003. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 24, from 5-8 PM and Saturday, January 25th 10 am to 12 noon. Burial at 1:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Duran, Carlos Iraheta, Oscar Iraheta, Christopher Laviena, Michael Laviena, and Chris Lee.
