Aleesee was born on September 9, 1925, in Albemarle County, Virginia to James and Mamie Harlow. Growing up, Aleesee was intelligent and dedicated to her studies. She graduated from McIntire High School in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1945. While attending high school, she was a member of the 4-H Club, and Vocational Club, and was on the basketball team.
She married James Holladay Slachter, Jr. on October 27, 1946, in Washington, DC. It was there that she began to build a life and family, together with her husband Jimmy and two children (Skip & Ruth). Family and faith were the two most important pillars in her life.
Throughout her life, Aleesee had many hobbies including gardening, fitness, and cooking. She turned that passion into a career and worked as a food service provider for Arlington County Public Schools for over thirty years.
Aleesee was an exemplary human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen and felt by everyone she knew. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted Christian.
Aleesee is preceded in death by her husband James, Jr. both children: James III (Skippy) and Ruth; her parents: James and Mamie Harlow; and her siblings: Robert, Cleveland, Virginia, Kathleen, Louise, James Jr., Leland, Sheldon, Franklin, Jean, Bobby, and Eddie.
