

Ann Eileen Sullivan, of Annandale, VA passed away on June 20th in Knoxville, TN while on vacation with her daughter Mary and granddaughters. She was the daughter of Christopher and May Kiernan of Merrick, New York. Her husband Robert Emmitt of 60+ years passed in 2020. Ann served in full time ministry with Bob for 35 years serving international students with IFACE, assisting in Orlando Florida and Knoxville, TN. She was active in her prayer group at Cedar Springs Church in Knoxville and taught English as a second language to thousands of students and started ESL programs throughout Tennessee that are active today. She also hosted regular bible studies and taught craft classes to wives of foreign students.
Her last years were spent caring for her husband Bob, hanging out with her grandchildren and serving internationals here in VA. Since Bob’s passing, she participated in several grief share groups always encouraging others.
Left to cherish her memory are children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Tom and Cherie Sullivan children William , Cianna , Patrick and Erina, , Bill and Kate Sullivan, Bobby and Christy Sullivan daughter Leila, Mary and Dan Carroll children Mark married to Wenting great grandchild Andrew , Christopher married to Christine, Rachael married to Christopher, great grandchildren Hayley and Jaxson. In addition, Ann was international mom to many foreign students Including Mae Ling Liu, Mae Chin Robinson (sisters both Chinese), Amaranth (Iran), Ester Lee (Malaysia), Sunny Kim (Korea), Tau and Lee Tau (China), Chi and Sherry Xu, nuclear scientist in Knoxville. Chi and Sherry gave mom and dad additional grandchildren, Nathan, Ian and Luke. Plus hundreds of others…..
It was a joy to have Ann be part of our lives, her enthusiasm for life will be missed forever.
The family deeply appreciates all acts of love, kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and words of sympathy expressed during their time of bereavement.
