Anthony Finocchiaro, of Arlington VA, passed away on July 27, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. He was born, November 20, 1934 to Frank and Jennie Finocchiaro in Brooklyn, NY. Anthony graduated from Lafayette High School, Brooklyn NY and received his bachelor’s degree from the City College of NY. He met Margaret on vacation in the Catskill Mountains, they married in 1958, and settled in Brooklyn. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Anthony is survived by his two daughters and son in-laws, Joanne and Douglas Marshall, and Donna and Jeffrey Fallas, and his three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Valerie and Anthony. He worked for the City of New York for 30 years. In retirement he moved to Arlington, VA to be near his grandchildren. Anthony was an avid volunteer and generously gave of his time to the Alzheimer’s Association of NY, the Good Shepherd Catholic Church sports program and his Arlington Condo Board over a span of 60 years. Anthony loved to give back to his church community and had been actively involved in church activities through the years. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and was an active member of the Son’s of Italy. He was a lifelong sports fan, one who never truly got over his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers leaving New York. Later in life he supported his grandchildren’s sporting endeavors as loyally as he once followed the Dodgers. He enjoyed sharing his love of his Italian culture with his friends and family and could often be found in the kitchen preparing a pasta dinner for them. The funeral service and burial are private due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to: Arlington Food Assistance Center.
