Ardith L. “Lady” Cronin, 90, who served on the Falls Church City Council in the 1960s and then was a member of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission for many years, died June 27 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Mrs. Cronin served on the commission, an independent regional planning body, from the late 1960s to 1983. She was chairwoman of the group for a period.
Ardith Lakin was born in Massachusetts and raised in Houlton, Maine. She was a 1942 graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and settled in the Washington area several years later.
She moved from Falls Church to the Westminster at Lake Ridge retirement community in the early 1990s.
Her husband, Walter F. Cronin, whom she married in 1947, died in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Jefferson Cronin of Guam and Greg Cronin of Falls Church.
