Bruce Edward Morton Sr.

Bruce Edward Morton, Sr. of Falls Church, Virginia, died on May 1, 2022 at the age of 78. Bruce was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 29, 1944. He was preceeded in death by his parents Wade and Mary Elizabeth Morton and his brother Wade Morton, Jr. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cynthia (nee Hudson), son Ted (Alicia) Morton of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, daughter Britt (Seth) Cobb of Ada, Michigan, grandchildren Maggie and Quinn Morton, George and Thomas Cobb, sister Ann (George) Morris of Trussville, Alabama and many nieces and nephews. Bruce attended the Indian Springs School in Pelham, Alabama. He was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama where was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was a Captain in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. Upon his return from Vietnam, he practiced law with his father at Whitmire, Morton and Coleman, Birmingham, Al. He relocated to Northern Virginia in 1972. He specialized in tax law, receiving his L.L.M. from Georgetown Law. For nearly 25 years, he was a Trial Attorney in the United States Department of Justice’s Criminal Section of the Tax Division. In his retirement, Bruce enjoyed a variety of interests including traveling, gardening, bicycling, and reading. He always enjoyed being physically active and was an avid sports fan, particularly relating to all University of Alabama sports. Roll Tide! Most recently, his favorite thing to do was walk and care for his beloved dog, Holly. Bruce had the utmost integrity, was always ready to lend a hand to friends and strangers alike. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held May 21, 2022, at 10 AM in the Memorial Garden at Immanuel Church on the Hill 3606 Seminary Rd. Alexandria, Va. 22304.
