Clara Aurora Munoz

Mrs. Muñoz was born in Salitre, Ecuador, one of twelve children born to Norberto Bernabe Morante and Guadalupe de Jesus De La Vera. Mrs. Muñoz was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cared deeply for her own family as well as her sisters, nieces, and nephews. She was best known for her infectious laughter, clever wit, and desire to nurture others with a home-cooked meal. In addition to her work at home, she volunteered providing administrative support for charitable organizations after which her particular talents as a seamstress were employed by high-end retail establishments and to the benefit of family members who desired custom dresses. May she rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus, reunited with those who preceded her in death including her husband of sixty-one years, Kleber Muñoz, and beloved daughter, S. Liliana Munoz.

Those left to cherish her life include her children, Martha Coello and Fernando Munoz (Cassandra); her grandchildren Alexandra Shabelski (Jim), Jennifer Coello, Martha Elena Larnard (Zach), Erica Zonfa (Chase), and Matthew Gomez; and four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Caroline, and Juliet Shabelski and Elena Larnard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 am on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, VA. Pallbearers will be her son Fernando, grandson Matthew, step-grandson Brendon Welch, grandsons-in-law Jim Shabelski and Zach Larnard, and nephew Yuri Cassanello. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm on Friday at the National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA with a repass afterwards. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home within the National Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Heart Matters, Arbor Terrace Sudley Manor, and Vitas Hospice Care who provided loving care during her final years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association so that others suffering with this disease may find comfort and support.
