Doris S. Carraway

Doris Carraway joined the heavenly realm on June 28, 2016. She was born July 24, 1930 in Wilson County, North Carolina. Doris moved to Virginia in1957. Shortly thereafter, she became a member of Graham Road United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Doris was very involved in her church and was part of a bowling league for many years. She loved to travel and enjoyed several wonderful trips to visit Europe with her church friends. Her biggest joy was to spend time with her family. To them she was known simply as “Mama.” Doris was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a sharp wit and was known for her sense of humor. Doris was gracious, kind, giving and supportive of all those she interacted with.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mandy Shackleford and her brother Billy Shackleford.

She is survived by her sister Sylvia Dilda, husband Al Carraway, sons Alan and Glenn, daughter Connie Mauck, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Graham Road United Methodist Church or Capital Care Hospice.
