

Dorothy Lucille Miller Van Brunt, 92, of McLean Va, passed away on June 13th, at her daughter’s home. She was born on October 25th, 1928, to Elizabeth Owens Miller and John Neighbor Miller of Oldwick, NJ. She was the youngest of 4 daughters, with sisters Inez Elizabeth, Emma Louise, and Ruth Virginia. She lost her father, soon after her birth, from pneumonia. Her mother provided well for her daughters and saw Dorothy graduated from Upsala College. Dorothy worked for Bell Laboratories, assisting engineers, during exciting times, and recalled a researcher who rode in the halls on a unicycle. She met her husband at a church dance and enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 53 years. She was active in her church, enjoyed bridge clubs, traveling, hosting holiday parties, taking walks, and family vacations at the beach. She remained in her home, living independently, until her final year.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children Michael (Rosemary) Van Brunt, Laurie (Jim) Lewis, and Connie (Jeff) Norberg. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Katie (Jeff) Hoffman, Connie (Andrew) Arnold, Jenny Lewis (fiancé Fernando Oliveros), Sally Lewis, Allison Norberg, Lyndsey Norberg and Nathan Norberg, and by her precious great-granddaughters, Maggie Arnold and Grace Hoffman. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, LeRoy Bernard "Mickey", and her beloved granddaughter, Meghan Van Brunt.
A service will be held at Murphy’s Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046 on July 5th, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Doors will open at 1:30 for visitation. A private interment will follow at the New Germantown Cemetery in Oldwick, NJ.
