
Edith M. Thomas, 97, of Alexandria, VA passed into eternal life August 28, 2016. She was born in Townsville, NC on April 17, 1919, to parents William D. and Jennie V. Peck. She is predeceased by sisters Lucille R. Young of Alexandria, VA, Mildred Peck Gable of Washington, DC, and brother Macon D. Peck of Bothell, WA.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Carolyn V. Lees of Gretna, VA; grandchildren, Tanya J. and John F. Redding, Jr., of La Plata, MD; Clinton D. and Rebecca Lees of Crozet, VA; and Ryan T and Anna H. Lees of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren Reeghan N. Redding, Cary A. Redding and Hallie Redding of La Plata, MD; and William D. Lees and Mason D. Lees of Crozet, VA.
Mrs. Thomas retired from C&P Telephone Company in 1985 after 48 years of service, working in several locations around the U.S. during WWII before returning to the Washington area. The company promoted her into Business Services where she created and instructed courses in customer relations and leadership training, as well as nationwide training of new AT&T computer systems called Data on the Move.
Visitation: September 2, 2016, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Everly-Wheatly Funeral Home, 1500 Braddock Road, Alexandria. Celebration of life service: September 3 2016, 10:00 a.m., Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2701 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria. Memorial donations may be made to the following organizations:
