Esterlita Bonus was born to Ester Ramos and Rudolfo Bonus on June 9th, 1946. She grew up poor, with separated parents. Esterlita lived with her mom while her sister, Editha, lived with her dad.
When she graduated high school, she was determined to be a working student. Her first job at age 17 was at the Korean Embassy, where she worked from 7:30am – 3:00pm. After work, she would go to the Philippine College of Commerce and had class every night from 5:30pm – 10:00pm. She did not get to experience any partying or outings and was solely focused on work and school.
After five years of struggle and determination, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Minor in Business Education.
In 1968, she fell in love and had two daughters, April and May. In 1976, she fell in love again and had a son, Mark.
In 1982, she immigrated to the United States with her three children to join her mother. After a few months, she ended up getting a job with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She worked at DAR for a few years before getting a job at Bell Atlantic, where she met her best friends Vicky Calizo, Susan Roxas, Maria Tiglao, Anita Cabrera, and Carina Deramos.
She obtained her Master of Science in Business Administration while working at Bell Atlantic and retired in 2010.
She was a devout Catholic and was always grateful to what God provided her.
