On Thursday, August 30, 2012. Beloved husband of Sharon; and father of Katherine and Bridget of Falls Church, VA. He was the cherished brother of Frank James McGinley, Mary Elizabeth McGinley, Michael Steven McGinley and Timothy Peter McGinley of Kansas City, MO, Thomas Jerome McGinley of Longmont, CO, William Joseph McGinley of Truckee, CA and Margaret Seaton McGinley Houchins of Caldwell, ID; and his brothers and sisters-in-law. He was the loving and fun uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Patricia Ryan McGinley, father, Frank James McGinley and sister, Ann Catherine McGinley Hull, of Kansas City, MO. Patrick retired from the World Bank where he served for over 25 years. He loved his career at the World Bank where he had the opportunity to try and make the world a better place. He was proud of the Bank's mission and believed it in his heart. As he said, "All cynicism aside, that's what's great about this job, one can argue how well we do and how effective our projects are, but the intrinsic motivation comes from knowing that the intended results of our effort is to make people's lives better." He was active in the lives of his daughters. He spent countless hours coaching softball where he taught his players about the game and they taught him about coaching girls - it's not whether you win or lose necessarily but who looks best out on the field! But they learned more than the game - they learned about teamwork, they learned about cheering on your teammates and in the process they learned self confidence and acceptance. He timed at swim meets, watched tae kwon do, went to plays and art shows, and sat through dance recitals. He was always proud of his girls. Friends may call on Monday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at MURPHY FALLS CHURCH FUNERAL HOME, 1102 W. Broad St.(Rt. 7.) A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 4, 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Falls Church, VA where he has been a parishioner since 1991 spending many hours through the years serving behind the scenes.
