Eva was born in Germany and moved to Canada in the 1950s to study nursing. In Canada, Eva met her late husband of 33 years, Geza Peter Lauter. The two later moved to the United States to further their respective careers. Eva continued to progress her nursing and nursing administration expertise, earning a post-masters graduate certificate in health services administration from George Washington University in 1987. On March 30, 2002, Peter Lauter passed away expectantly. Eva subsequently met and was charmed by late Raymond Thomas Pigott in Washington D.C. The two married in Montgomery County, Maryland.
As the CEO of The Methodist Home of D.C, Eva led efforts to obtain federal grants that resulted in a significant expansion of the facility. She made training a top priority to ensure her staff provided the highest quality care for their residents. In retirement, Eva periodically served as a consultant for the healthcare industry, including overseeing the construction and staff development for a new retirement facility in Saint Vincent.
Eva carried a passion for art, music, gardening, and interior decorating. She beautifully curated her home with unique and eclectic art obtained from her travels throughout the world. Her hard work was recognized in a feature article by Better Home and Gardens.
Eva is preceded in death by her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Gigi. She will be remembered by her close friend, Judy Hillerich, her godson, Chris Hillerich, and friends Diana Garcia, Christian Garcia, and Annie Roberts. Memorials may be given to the Chevy Chase UMC Memorial Fund.
Funeral services will be held on February 1 at 2:00PM at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 7482 Lee Highway Falls Church, VA 22042.
