Evelyn Jenkins

Evelyn R Jenkins, formerly of Arlington, VA and Sun City Center, FL, passed away on June 20, 2011 in Manassas,VA. Mrs. Jenkins was born January 9, 1919 in Oakton, VA to Charles and Naomi Ralston. She was a senior vice president and branch manager of First Virginia Bank. At the time of her retirement in 1977, she was the oldest active employee of the bank in terms of continuous service, having joined the bank's principal antecedent, Old Dominion Bank, in 1937. She was also the highest ranking woman officer in the history of First Virginia Bank at the time of her retirement. In 1967, she was instrumental in founding the Northern Virginia group of the National Association of Bank Women and served as the group's first chairman.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Arthur Burl Jenkins, and by her brother, Charles Linwood Ralston. Services will be held Monday, June 27 at 12:00 Noon at National Funeral Home with burial at National Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 15012 Dumfries Road, Manassas, VA 20112.
