Georgia “Georgie” Christine DeGrange, 94, of Falls Church passed away at The Retreat in Berryville, Virginia on February 4th. She was born April 19, 1928 to the late Eddie Thomas McFadden and Emma C. Carter. She was raised in Appomattox, Virginia and graduated from Appomattox High School. She started working for F. W. Woolworth in 1950 and retired with over 45 years of service. Georgie met her husband, Edgar, while visiting her sisters Ruth and Lockie who lived in Arlington, Virginia and Edgar was living with his sister Annie, they married shortly after she graduated High School. Georgie and Edgar moved to Washington D.C. where her son Don was born, later moved to Arlington where Carolyn their daughter was born and later moved to Falls Church, Virginia. She was a long time resident of Falls Church before moving to Berryville. Georgie and Edgar spent many years traveling the country with their family and friends in their motor homes. After Edgar passed Georgie continued to travel with family and friends across the country as well as traveling to Mexico, Europe, Hawaii and Alaska. She was always ready to go. Georgie was preceded in death by her husband Edgar P. DeGrange, her four sisters, Pearl Ayers, Nellie McFadden, Ruth Waldecker, and Lockie Ayers, five brothers, Leonard McFadden, Charlie McFadden, Aubrey McFadden, Floyd McFadden, and Ray McFadden. She is survived by her two children Donald R. DeGrange (Barbara) of Fairfax Va. and Carolyn J. Hyden (William) of Falls Church, Va.; her sister Dorothy Martin of Appomattox, Va.; three grandsons Donald R. DeGrange, Jr. (Melissa) of Stevens City Va., William T. Hyden, Jr. (Debra) of Occoquan, Va., and Christopher D. Hyden (Amy) of Tarrytown, N.Y.; three great-grandsons Michael Anderson (Angel) of Woodbridge, Va., Daniel Hyden of Fairfax, Va., and Braiden DeGrange of Winchester, Va.; one great-granddaughter Isabella Hyden of Woodbridge, Va.; two step great-grandsons Ryan Hartley (Ashley) and Craig Clem; three step great-granddaughters Jessica Hammond (Walter), Heather Hartley (Jocelyn), and Sierra Palmer; four step great-great-grandsons Aaron Hammond, Mason Hammond, Camden Harley, and Easton Hartley; and two step great-great-granddaughters Jadyn Hammond and Ellie Mae Hartley. The family will receive friends at National Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9th from 12-1 pm with Rev. Darryl Martin officiating a service at 1 pm. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks to The Retreat at Berryville for all the special care they gave mom.
