Gertrude (Trudy) Savia died peacefully surrounded by family July 16, 2022. She was born and grew up in Washington DC. During her youth she enjoyed spending part of her summers on her Aunt and Uncle’s farm in Vienna, VA. She also had an Aunt and Uncle who lived on Church Street in Vienna, who she would come to visit during her youth and young adulthood. It is there where she met her husband, Sam, who lived on the same street. She moved to Vienna once married in 1954. She dedicated much of her life to her husband and children, to whom she showed an endless love. She also dedicated her life to her faith. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, which brought her much peace, strength, joy and a spiritual family who she loved so much. She loved being outdoors working in the yard, planting and tending to her flowers and making her yard beautiful. She loved birds and nature. She loved the beach, and spent many wonderful times with her family on yearly trips to the Outer Banks. She was quick with a kind and upbeat word to those she knew; as well to those she shared only brief encounters. Her kindness and genuine interest in other people endeared her to many. She had a zest for life, and an ongoing curiosity and desire to learn. She had a sweet and generous nature and derived joy from the many relationships she fostered. She was a truly loving wife, mom, friend and neighbor. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, and beloved son David. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Perkins and husband, David of Burke, VA, Karen Savia of Richmond, VA and Mary Savia of Fairfax City, VA.
Funeral will be held August 11,2022 at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1580 Beulah Rd, Vienna, VA, followed immediately by a reception at Meadowlark Park Atrium in Vienna, VA. Internment at National Memorial Park will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gertrude’s behalf to the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW.ORG) or to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department (VVFD.ORG).
