

Born May 22, 1928 in Breslau, Germany, Barbara was the daughter of Gertrude and Wilhelm Roell. After divorcing Joseph E. Krell, who died in 2001, she lived happily with Anthony Molnar, her longtime beloved partner, until his death in 2015. She graduated from The Catholic University of America with a Master’s degree in Library Science.
Barbara worked for many years as a reference librarian for the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs in Washington, DC, Strayer Business College, and the District of Columbia Public Library. She survived World War II while living in Germany with her mother and sister Gerda Sutfin. She met her first husband while he was stationed in Germany as a civilian for the US Department of the Army. She met the Reverend Anthony Molnar when he joined Barbara and Eli Rajec, a very close colleague of Barbara’s, while the two librarians attended a meeting of The American Library Association in Chicago.
Barbara was an active member of The American Library Association and Temple Sinai of Washington, DC, attending many conferences and involved with many clubs.
Barbara is survived by children Deborah (Martin) Blum, Bernard (Jennifer) Krell, and Cindy (Marc) Eisenbaum; grandchildren Tamara Garvey, Jason (Emily) Eisenbaum, Barry Eisenbaum, Elizabeth (Ian Glebes) Krell, Sydney Krell, Charlotte Krell; great-grandchildren Jordan Eisenbaum, Bradley Eisenbaum; nieces Roseanne (Rob Edwards) Prichason, Dorothy (John) Kane, Julie (Michael) Brennan, Elizabeth Sutfin, Rose Sutfin; nephew Thomas (Ann Baier) Sutfin; great-nieces Grace Kane, Rachel (Stephen) Waldron; great-nephews David Kane, Adam Sutfin, Dale Sutfin.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Falls Church, Virginia, for immediate family only. Rabbi Emeritus Jonathan Maltzman of Congregation Kol Shalom, Rockville, Maryland will officiate. Burial will follow with arrangements by Andrea Espinosa, Resident Funeral Director, National Funeral Home. Details regarding a family memorial service at Temple Sinai to be held later in 2022 will be forthcoming.
