

Born in Columbus, Ohio in the 1920’s and a 1940 graduate of South High School, prepared to enter the business world, she worked for a law firm; The Ohio State Journal; and Internal Revenue Collector Harry F, Busey, before meeting and marrying Capt. William J. Ehlinger, an instructor B-17 pilot stationed at Lockbourne Army Air Base. He was a native Texan. Travelled the world with her husband of 62 years and four children.
Helen also worked in the area for the Marriott Key Bridge Banquet and Sales Dept.; Tech-Ops ( a government contractor); and 16 years for John J. Wilson the famous Watergate attorney.
Predeceased by husband Lt. Col. Ehlinger and daughter, Pamela Stewart and brother, Frank G. Irion. She is survived by her son, Michael W. Ehlinger; and daughters, Sharon Guckenberger (Edward); Lynn Landes (Clifford) and nine grandchildren: Syreeta and Eddie Stewart --- Germaine Ehlinger Olson --- Jared and Lance and Brad Guckenberger --- Jackie Landes Fisher and Tim and Mitch Landes. Also, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and her brother, William R. Irion and lots of Ehlingers in Texas.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday, January 8th 2022 at Murphy Funeral Homes, 1102 W. Broad St. Falls Church, VA. Memorial Gifts may be made in Helen’s memory to the charity of the donator’s choice. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
