Jack Melnikoff, 68, of Leesburg, VA, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Jack was the son of Eleanor and Leonard Melnikoff and grew up alongside his older brother, Stuart.
In 1976, while a student at the University of Maryland, Jack met the love of his life, Wendy, and the two quickly became inseparable. They married in 1979 in Pompano Beach, Florida, and soon after settled in Northern Virginia where they built a beautiful life together, raising two sons, Justin and Brett.
Following graduation, Jack began a distinguished and award-winning career in information technology. Throughout his professional life, he was deeply respected by colleagues and clients alike for both his expertise and his kindness. He had a unique ability to assess challenges and offer creative solutions, and he was known for always treating people with respect and compassion.
Jack was a devoted family man and treasured time spent with his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and two cherished granddaughters. He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures and was passionate about photography, golf, cars, and the latest technology.
A talented photographer, Jack opened a home studio where he specialized in portraiture and created personalized photo albums that became treasured keepsakes for family and friends. He enjoyed golfing in warmer weather and always said you could assess someone’s character by how they played the game of golf. His love of cars was always on display through the array of car detailing accessories he kept in the garage. He even installed a heater, which enabled him to continue his craft through the winter months.
Jack often said that no summer would be complete without a crab feast shared with loved ones. He was happiest when surrounded by family, laughter, and good food.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wendy; sons Justin (Jacquelyn) and Brett (Anna); granddaughters, Eleanor “Ellie” and Cecile “CeCe”; brother Stuart (Wendy); brothers-in-laws Marty (Susie) and Robert (Joanne); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Our family extends sincere thanks to family and friends for their love and support. Donations may be made to a cancer research institute of your choice in hopes of finding a cure.
Funeral services and interment took place at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA.
