Jamescinee Floyd Glenn was born on May 7, 1955 in Columbia, South Carolina to the union of the late James Bennie Floyd, Sr. and Elise Caroline Floyd of Saluda, South Carolina. Both her parents preceded her in death.
At an early age Jamescinee and her family moved to Washington DC. Jamescinee graduated from F.W. Ballou High School in 1974. She also attended Washington School for Secretaries in 1976. She later married her high school sweetheart Luther Glenn, Jr. and played the admiral role of a military wife. Their deployments led them to Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort McClellan Alabama; Ansbach, Germany; and Fort Myers, VA. To this union were born two daughters Kelli and Crystal. Jamescinee was a city girl with a country soul. Her home was a place where people loved to come and spend time. She was a giving person with a big heart and always knew how to make anyone laugh with her lighthearted personality. She loved her family and friends and always made a point to visit and keep in touch. She loved movies (her favorites Gone with the Wind and West Side Story), music and dancing. She was an artist at heart. She loved interior design, making flower arrangements, crafting, painting and cooking. She displayed her flare for art all through her life starting with a life-sized mural of Jackson 5 painted on her bedroom wall as a teen to later preparing all flower arrangements for her eldest daughters’ wedding. A survivor of breast cancer (1997), she was a strong and fearless woman. No amount of hard work would stop her. She always stood up for her and those she loved.
Jamesinee’s first career was being a mother to her two daughters and military wife. She chose to be a stay at home mother the first few years of her children’s’ lives to ensure she was there for every moment of their growing years. When she went back into the workforce, she started with administrative work at companies such as GEICO, Boat USA, and SAIC. She later moved into administrative healthcare and worked for Walter Reed Army Medical Center (2001-2002), INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital (2003-2014), Ft. Belvoir Army Community Center Hospital (2000-2015) and most recently McGuire VA Medical Center (2015-2017). Jamescinee retired December 31, 2017.
Jamescinee Floyd Glenn, 62, transitioned to be with our Lord on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 4:30PM. She left the world peacefully surrounded by friends and family at the INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. Jamescinee was truly blessed, loved and well taken care of by her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters; Kelli Beatrice Kumar and husband Nik of Lorton, VA, and Crystal Elease Glenn and partner Robert Cornish of Manassas, VA; her husband and companion of 46 years, Luther Glenn, Jr; her older sister, Audrey Elaine Floyd of Washington, DC; her younger brother, James Bennie Floyd.
