

Jody Raskind Phillips, 60, resident of Vienna, Virginia and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague, and friend, passed peacefully on Saturday, September 27th at the Adler Center for Caring in Aldie, Virginia. Jody was Chief of the Microenterprise Development Division at the US Small Business Administration, founding the agency’s Microloan program in 1992 and overseeing the PRIME grant program. Her work has provided funding for more than 55,000 loans, totaling over $665 million dollars, to small-business entrepreneurs nationally, helping to create or retain more than 193,000 jobs. Jody was most proud of the efforts she and her team made to support individuals with low incomes, distressed communities, and minority populations of all sorts in achieving the American Dream. Jody is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Phillips; her mother June Jaeger; four sisters; seven children and step-children; ten grandchildren; and many others.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Murphy Funeral Home 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church VA, 22046. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church 8601 Wolftrap Rd., Vienna VA, 22182 at 10:00 AM. Interment and a celebration of Jody’s life will follow immediately afterward.
