Nécrologie de John Cody Wheeler
John Cody Wheeler, 63, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Kearneysville, WV after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tammi (Geoffroy) Wheeler; his two sons, Jacob Wheeler (Kristen) of Berryville, VA and Corey Wheeler of Charles Town, WV; and by his grandson, Christian Alldredge of Evansville, IN. He is also survived by his mother Frances Wheeler of Falls Church, VA, and four siblings: Barbara Furr (Floyd) of Nokesville, VA, James Wheeler (Linda) of Falls Church, VA, Michael Wheeler (Patti) of Winchester, VA, Catherine Sprinkle of Falls Church, VA, four nieces, five nephews, six great-nieces and three great-nephews. John is preceded in death, by his father, James F. Wheeler. Born on April 24, 1956, in Washington, D.C. to Frances V. and James F. Wheeler, John, lovingly referred to as “Papa Wheels”, was raised in Falls Church, VA with his two sisters and two brothers where they all attended George C. Marshall High School. John married his high school sweetheart, Tammi, in 1975. They raised two boys, Jacob and Corey in Falls Church and Sterling, VA. John worked as an Underground Lineman with Virginia Power (now Dominion Energy) for 35 years until his retirement. Throughout his life and career, he was a friend and mentor to many. In his spare time, John loved to spend time with his family, hunt, fish, and cook. Some of John’s favorite places to visit were Missouri to visit family and Shulin Lake, Alaska to spend time with friends. He was a generous man with his time and culinary skills. His contest winning chili, wings, Reubens, ham and beans, sausage and gravy, and pork and sauerkraut are just a few of his most requested dishes. Always thinking of others, John enjoyed bringing food or vegetables from his garden to friends, or just stopping by to check in and chat. Visitation will be open from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13th at National Memorial Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
