

Johnny is survived by his parents Betty and Johnny Simancas Sr., his brother, Westley Simancas wife Jenny Simancas, his sister, Jennifer Simancas husband Patrick Judge, his nephew, Sebastian Fierro and beloved niece, Sofia Simancas. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Maria Mercedes Juvinao and Lino Juvinao and Tula and Lorenzo Simancas.
Johnny was born on April 16, 1976 in Alexandria, VA. He attended Aquinas Catholic School in Woodbridge, VA Class of 1990 and Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA Class of 1994. He graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida with a degree in Sociology and Criminology. He was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Johnny spent an almost 20-year career as a social worker with the City of Alexandria then Prince William County, devoted to protecting children who had experienced child abuse. Johnny was a leader at work who other social workers, law enforcement officers, and personnel admired and respected for his devotion and joy he brought to the workplace.
Johnny was a dedicated family member and active man who had a true passion for baseball and traveling. He spent his weekends and evenings often umpiring Baseball games and referee Volleyball games.
Johnny was an incredible person and a light to all who knew him. He spread laughter, joy, and love. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel special and loved whether you were his family, friend, teammate, fraternity brother or a client of his.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 17, 2017 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the National Memorial Funeral Home 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, December 18, 2017 11:00 AM, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church 12805 Valleywood Dr, Lake Ridge, VA 22192 with a burial to follow at 1:00 PM at National Memorial Park 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
