Josephine C. Grimsley

August 14, 1918 - May 20, 2014

Josephine C. Grimsley, of Hilton Head Island, S. C., formerly of Alexandria, passed away May 20, 2014, at the age of 95.

A native of Mecklenburg County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joe Beale Chandler and Esma Clement Chandler.

The loving mother of two daughters, she was a devoted wife and homemaker and a member of Baptist Temple Church

in Alexandria. She especially enjoyed gardening, music, and Redskins football. In 2003, she moved to Hilton Head Island

to enjoy the care and company of her daughter, Gale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Spillman (Buck) Grimsley, and by three brothers, Clem Chandler, Beale Chandler,

and Lindy Chandler and by three sisters, Laura V. Mills, Louise Coble, and Ruth Llewellyn. She is survived by daughters and

sons-in-law, Gale and Don Burrell of Bluffton, S. C. and Bonnie and Steve Edmond of Dade City, FL, and one brother,

Wallace Chandler, of Richmond.

Family and friends may gather on Friday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at National Funeral Home, Falls Church, followed by a

graveside service.
