June Ann Bond passed away peacefully at home in Arlington, Virginia, Saturday, June 18, surrounded by family. She was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to Josephine Moore Gerdon and Jack Gerdon and was raised in The Bronx, New York. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick J. Bond. She is survived by her nine children Kathleen (Peter Yost), Alexis (Richard Eakin), Paula (Larry Rothenberg), Erick (Nancy), Regina (Curtis Darling), Sheila (Mark Giglio), Denise, Christopher (Laura), and Bryan (Laura); 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
June and Fred moved their young, growing family upstate from The Bronx in 1953 after falling in love with it's beauty, settling in Clifton Park in 1964. June worked at Shenendehoah High School as a teacher's aide and mentor. She was a kind, compassionate woman who thoroughly enjoyed her students and always stressed that "you can't tell a book by it's cover." She was an active community member involved in Care Links, as a Proctor's Theater docent, and a bridge club participant. She was an avid reader and loved working in her garden.
She is coming home to the upstate New York she so dearly loved. Visitation will be Friday, June 24 from 4-7 at Gordon Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, New York. Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 am at the same location, with burial at Jonesville Cemetery following.
