Kathryn was born September 9, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, second daughter of the late Everett Ray Yount and Mary Elizabeth (Carpenter) Yount. She was a long-time resident of Arlington, Virginia, having moved there with her family in 1960 at age 5.
Kathryn was a multi-talented individual, engaged in occupations ranging from the medical field to dog-training, horse training, and office management. She was proud to have been part of the medical team in the George Washington University Hospital Emergency Room when President Ronald Reagan was rushed in with a life-threatening bullet wound after the assassination attempt on his life. Among many additional endeavors, Kathryn was one of the founders and session leaders of the Washington Area Drumming Group (WADG), where she played an important role in the circle and in the members’ lives.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother John Burton (Jack) Yount, she is survived by her brother Everett Ray (E. Ray) Yount, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Front Royal; sister Rena Carolyn Yount of Olney, Maryland; and a niece, two nephews and spouses, a grand-niece, and a grand-nephew. All will miss her dearly.
Subsequent Note: Sadly, her sister Rena passed away, also from Covid, six weeks after Kay’s passing. Both were inurned in the Columbarium at the King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA, April 16, 2025
