LaSandra M. Williams

LaSandra Monroe Williams was born on Tuesday, June 8, 1954 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. She was one of 12 children born to Willie Ralph and Catherine Monroe. LaSandra was blessed with a joyful childhood and life-long close relationships with her beloved family. LaSandra matriculated through the Southern Pines school system and graduated from Pinecrest Senior High School in 1972.

Following high school LaSandra moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She became the proud and devoted parent of her daughter, Laura Williams, in July 1977. In 1986, LaSandra and Lawrence Williams married. Although the young couple’s union did not last, they remained great friends throughout the years. LaSandra put down stakes in Northern Virginia and worked in retail for several years. While working and raising her daughter, she earned her Associates Degree in 1989 from Sandhills Community College.

In 2000 Sandra was blessed to become a doting grandmother to Shaina Williams. She, Laura, and Shaina shared a very close relationship, as LaSandra was a nurturer by nature and loved nothing more than her family. She genuinely cared for people from all walks of life. LaSandra took great care in providing service to others through her compassion and generosity.

After a sudden illness diagnosis and valiant fight, LaSandra was called to be home with the Lord on March 27, 2017. She demonstrated her faith and courage during this illness and she would remind her loved ones that “God makes no mistakes.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ralph Monroe & Catherine Monroe, and her brother, William Maurice Monroe. Sandra leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter Laura Williams, granddaughter Shaina Williams, her siblings Gloria Williams (NC), Ann Carter (VA), Brenda Collins (NC), Myrtle McCrimmon (NC), Mary Monroe (NC), Vanessa Stancil (NC), Kenneth Monroe (VA), Warren Monroe (NC), Leonard Monroe (CA), Nicky Monroe (NC) and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
