Lenora G Cosner Skotnicki

Lenora G. Cosner Skotnicki, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Birmingham Green Health Care Center in Manassas, Virginia, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s. She was born on December 3, 1933, in Morgantown, WV, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Cosner.

Lenora graduated from Morgantown Business College, and later moved to the Arlington, VA area, where she resided for over 50 years. Her career as a Secretary with Department of Agriculture and Department of Navy spanned 35 years. She retired in 1997.

Lenora was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Arlington, VA, for many years. She was an active volunteer at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, where she loved working with the cats. She had three cats of her own, Lindy, Georgie, and Romeo.

Lenora loved walking, swimming, playing bridge, spending time with family, socializing with friends, and shopping.

Lenora is survived by her two children, Linda Benton and husband Gary of Herndon, VA; Thomas “Andre” Skotnicki and wife Sherry of Morgantown, WV; five grandchildren, Korey Benton (Cate) of Austin, TX; Ashley Benton of Herndon, VA; Ryan Skotnicki (Tessa) of Whitefish, MT; Eric Skotnicki of Houston, TX; and Chelsea Skotnicki of Tucson, AZ; her sister Alma Thomas of Carnation, WA; her brother Charles “Finley” Cosner (Laura) of Napavine, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Birmingham Green, VITAS Hospice, and Dr. Arun K. Gupta, for their care and compassion for Lenora and her family.

Visitation will take place at Advent Funeral & Cremation Services, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22046 on Friday July 14th, 2017 from 12 – 1 pm. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
