Marianne Lea Trice (Bruner) passed away at her home in Alexandria, Virginia on October 24, 2020 at the age of 56. While she suffered a short illness, her passing was unexpected and her family deeply misses her cheery soul.
Marianne was born in Alexandria to Warren and Carolyn Trice on August 11, 1964. After graduating from Groveton High School as a varsity cheerleader and lifelong proud tiger in 1982, she began a long-tenured career in property management, which eventually moved her family south to Greensboro, North Carolina for nearly two decades. She eventually made her way back home to Alexandria in 2011 where she found her work family with Dignity Memorial at National Funeral Home.
She had a passionate love for sports that was passed along at a young age from her older brother, Jeff. She was the world’s biggest fan of all the local professional teams as well as her daughter Lauren’s alma mater, the Tar Heels of UNC-Chapel Hill. She was also a proud Marine Corps Mom for her son, Matthew.
Marianne was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, Clyde and Virginia “Mimi” Trice, and Clyde and Mae Holsinger; and uncle, Edward “Brother” Trice. She is survived by her children, Lauren and James Hall, and Matthew Bruner; her parents, Warren and Carolyn Trice; her brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Anita Trice; uncle and aunt, Melvin and Joyce Holsinger; aunt Pat Perry; cousins, Chris Trice, Kevin and Kerry Trice, Glen and Jenny Holsinger, and Robert and Kari Holsinger; and her loving canine companion, Abigail.
A private graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at 1:00pm, led by Pastor Bryan Jones. The event will be live-streamed on National Funeral Home’s Facebook page for loved ones near and far to join virtually. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any gifts be donated to the American Heart Association in Marianne’s honor.
River of Sorrow
by Todd Nigro
Drinking from the waters of sorrow
sustains a different kind of life.
This river is hidden
from the rest of the world.
Tears drip from my chin and fall into
an endless flow of liquid love.
This river sparkles with beauty.
