

Marshall was born in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Marcial Chavez St. John and Jesusita Nevarez St. John on January 21, 1934. He held a bachelor’s degree in business and history from New Mexico State University and was a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Course in Insurance and Marketing. He married Carmen De las Casas on June 27, 1959 in Las Cruces, New México.
Marshall St. John had a successful 37-year career as a State Farm Agent. He was a veteran of the Korean war,
Marshall will be fondly remembered as leader in the El Paso community. He coached little league basketball and baseball and was a member of the El Paso Boys Club, the Optimist Club and Toastmasters. He served on several boards including the Thomason Hospital Board, the El Paso Public Service Board, and the Region 19 Education Service Board. During the 2001-2002 school year the Region 19 Education Service Board Room was named the Marshall St. John Board Room to honor his work and in recognition of his 35-year tenure making him the longest serving service board member in the State of Texas.
His family will remember him for being a loving father and husband with a quick wit and strong work ethic. He lived his life with integrity and “gusto” and loved dispersing “pearls of wisdom” to his children and grandchildren. Marshall was an avid golfer, passionate reader and ice cream aficionado.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Marcial and Jesusita St. John, his siblings Eva Herrera, Roberto St. John, and Freddy St. John and brother-in-law Henry Herrera and sister-in-law Delia St. John.
Marshall St. John is survived by his best friend and love of his life and wife of 67 years, Carmen St. John, his children Marcia St. John-Cunning and husband Daniel Cunning, Tony St. John and wife Monica St. John, Sylvia St. John Martinez and husband Miguel Martinez, Michelle St. John and husband Ayman Kassem, sister Cecilia Ulibarri and brother-in-law Lee Ulibarri; Grandchildren Daniel, Kelsey and Marcia Cunning, Angelo and Carley Martinez, Marcial and Antionette St. John and Karma, Cayla and Miky Kassem and great-grandchildren Audrey Carrasco Martinez and Jayden and Alani Torres.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Hispanic Leadership Alliance – St. John Family Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Latino student in recognition of strong work ethic, entrepreneurship, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Funeral services will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Monday, January 19, 2026, at National Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
