Mary Christina McBride

Mary C. McBride, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, died of natural causes on February 27, 2024, at her home in Falls Church, Virginia, at the age of 102. Mary was born on December 25, 1921, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Thomas and Hannah Laffey. Mary nurtured others as an elementary school teacher, social worker, and homemaker. She is survived by her thirteen children: Michael of Alexandria, VA; Peter, Falls Church, VA; Margaret, Arlington, VA; Timothy, Annandale, VA; Kathleen, Falls Church, VA; Stephen, McLean, VA; Christopher, Rochester Hills, MI; Edward, Wilmington, DE; John, Falls Church, VA; Robert, Columbus, OH; Charles, Singapore; Andrew, Austin, TX; and David, Brooklyn, NY. Mary was grandmother to 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. McBride, and siblings Joseph, Theresa Newton, Ambrose, and Rita.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the wake on Wednesday, March 6, from 5 pm - 8 pm, at Murphy Funeral Homes, 1102 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA 22046. The funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, March 7, at St. John the Beloved Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA 22101, followed by burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201.
